The Washington Mystics reached the halfway point in their season this afternoon with a seven-point road win over the Seattle Storm that put the Mystics a game over .500 (9-8) and 3 1/2 games behind Connecticut in the Eastern Conference.
Washington was led by 15 points each from DeLisha Milton-Jones and former Duke star Alana Beard. Milton-Jones also added a team-high six rebounds and tied for the team high with four assists and two steals.
Seattle's Iziane Castro Marques led all scorers with 19 points, but it wasn't enough to beat Washington's balanced attack. The Mystics had four players in double digits, with Temeka Johnson and Charlotte Smith-Taylor scoring 12 and 11 points respectively.
Washington is tied with New York for third in the East right now, but the Liberty has played two less games than the Mystics. Four teams in each conference make the playoffs.
The Mystics next game is Friday, July 15 at 10 p.m., when they visit the Phoenix Mercury.
